Bar Snacks/Tapas
TEMPURA STYLE CALAMARI – Served with a spicy Salsa Mayonnaise.
One of the best we have tasted, crispy crunchy outside but moist and succulent on the inside. The Mayo also just added the exact amount of bite it needed.

CHORIZO CHILLI POPPERS – Wrapped in phyllo pastry and served with a spicy salsa mayonnaise.
An interesting take on the Chilli Popper, the finely diced Chorizo added another dimension of spiciness. Good addition indeed.

PRAWNS & MOZZARELLA SPRINGROLLS – With sweet chilli Hoisin and Basil pesto.
Yet another winner, the sweet prawn, mozzarella combination is perfectly complimented by the dipping sauce.

SIRLOIN CUBES – 125g wet-aged grilled Sirloin cubes with Café de Paris butter.
A perfect dish for the not so hungry, the cubes were cooked to perfection, moist, flavourful and yummy.

HQ SIGNATURE LOBBY ROLLS – Crayfish, spring onion, and mayonnaise in soft toasted rolls.
Sad to say this was the only dish that didn’t excite us. We just found the dish a bit large. The roll should perhaps be smaller and softer. Also the mayo totally overpowered the crayfish. Perhaps some refining to the dish would help to bring it up to the high standards of all the others.

It’s never too early for a cocktail and they have a large selection of choices, there will certainly be one for anyone. I sampled IT’S PIMMS ‘O CLOCK! – Pimms, raspberry infused Vodka, Cloudy Apple Juice and all the fresh fruit you could want.It tasted as yummy as it looks 🙂

Then onto our Restaurant Week Meal.
SALAD, STEAK & CHIPS – A tried and tested meal which made HQ famous and they do it so well, everything cooked to perfection, simple good food.
Their Signature Dish
Crispy cos and iceberg lettuce salad with toasted pine nuts, parmesan shavings and a vinaigrette dressing.
A perfectly grilled sirloin, topped with their signature Café de Paris butter and served with skinny fries.

Lastly we choose the Deconstructed Lemon Meringue, all the elements in the correct proportions for you to construct the prefect mouthful to your taste.
