Having already visited, the newly opened Foxcroft Constantia, for lunch and sampling 75% of the menu on that occasions it was simply a must to go and try the balance of their menu.
We decided on a mid-week dinner and arriving fairly early we were seated in the bakery area and if given the choice again I think they might be the best seats in the house for an intimate dinner.
The place fills up fairly quickly, but this is to be expected, so be sure to make your reservations well ahead of time.
For the dinner seating they still offer the A La Carte Menu but its set up a little differently for R350 per person, you get to select any 2 tapas; 1 main and 1 dessert. We certainly thought it was worth it and really good value for money.
So this time round we tried the following.
Mussels – Bacon, confit Lemon, Soubise
Tempura Prawns – Tom ka gai emulsion
Korean Fried Chicken – Buttermilk Espuma
Smoked Pig’s Head croquettes – Curried Sultana, Piccalilli, Crème Fraiche
Slow-cooked Lamb’s Leg – White bean hummus, smoked Garlic, Black Olive, minted Potatoes
Risotto – Cauliflower and Camembert, Celery Leaf, Salsa Verde
The Cheese Room – a selection of Cheese
Elderflower Doughnuts – Litchi Milk Ice, Raspberries
