Come Wine With Us at Ginja Restuarant

Another successful “Come Wine With Me” event was held at Ginja Restaurant in the V&A Waterfront, a beautiful space with idyllic views. Walking in patrons were greeted by the exotic and jazzy sound of Brent Krus’s guitar and band. The event centered around 3 courses coupled with Fleur du Cap’s range of wines.

On arrival, guests were treated to the Fleur du Cap Natural Light Rose a light, fruity, delicious wine.

  • Our first course consisted of Mediterranean baked chicken stuffed with roasted peppers topped with smoked tomato ragou and feta, on a bed of Moroccan cous cous. I love all things Moroccan and this course certainly set the tone. This course was served with the Fleur du Cap unfiltered Chenin
  • The main course consisted of Rump medallions with rustic-cut fries and a side salad, topped with a mushroom and blue cheese pouring sauce. Detractors may find this dish somewhat simplistic, but I will venture to state that there’s a lot to be said for simplistic dishes done perfectly and the steak most certainly was. I can’t recall the last time I enjoyed a steak that well prepared and seasoned. If I had to criticise this dish it would be that I would have preferred more blue cheese in the sauce, but that’s somewhat subjective and from someone who has penchant for blue cheese. This course was served with the Fleur du Cap Cabernet Sauvignon which was delicious
  • The Dessert consisted of a chocolate and nougat cigar with a delicious semi-fredo (which is a semi-frozen dessert with the texture of frozen mousse) on chocolate soil. I thoroughly enjoyed this dessert. This course was paired with the Fleur du Cap unfiltered Merlot, now this wine has won accolades both locally and internationally including VERITAS awards in 2012 (bronze medal), 2013(silver medal) and Silver at the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2013. There were lots of debate around our table relating to this wine with patrons either liking it or not liking it

Good Food, Great wine and fantastic music led to the amazing ambiance at this event, can’t wait for the next one.
