Come Wine With Us – August 2017

I’ve wanted to try Burger and Lobster for some time, so I was delighted when it was to be the venue for this the latest installment in the Come Wine With Us series paired with Boland Cellars latest offerings.


A unique and novel take on the proverbial “Surf and Turf”, with everything from the delicious breads, burgers to the delicious pickles all prepared and made in-house. I will concede that the menu didn’t inspire me at first glance, but I was prepared to go with it.

 On arrival we were offered the Boland Cellar Talent and Terroir Rose. This wine is lovely and fruity which I quite enjoyed and is made using Cinsaut grapes.

The starter consisted of a Prawn Bisque Soup served with brioche. My goodness, I would have been satisfied with a large bowl of this course as it was superb. It had a deep rich intense seafood flavour that was an absolute hit will all in attendance. A five-star course. This course was served with the Boland Cellar Unwooded Chennin Blanc.

The main course was called “Best of both worlds” and consisted of a lobster sandwich and burger combo. Wow, was the lobster roll fantastic!! A lobster sandwich made with buttery fresh brioche and Japanese mayo, all of my favourites. The burger was made with 100% ground steak, bacon and homemade pickles served with fries and a green salad all of this served with Boland Cellar One Formation Shiraz, Pinotage and Ganache.


Finally, dessert was Ferrero Rocher dark cholate mousse served with Boland Cellar One Formation Shiraz, Grenache and Viognier.

Another amazing instalment of CWWU, there’s lots to be said for keeping your menus limited but doing it all really well and that’s the appeal of Burger and Lobster. A must do!
