Panama Jacks & Wikideals SA

The inspired rustic facade of Panama Jacks made it seem as if the restaurant originated from under the sea – fitting for the type of food served. Panama Jacks is a lot more than what meets the eye although the upkeep doesn’t convey the pearl inside.

Similar to Ariel from The Little Mermaid, who found unexpected delights and treasures in sunken ships, we dove into Panama Jacks without an inkling to guide us. If our sense of adventure didn’t kick in, we wouldn’t have explored the tastes on offer. What a great fate we stepped in.

A variety of flags hung from the ceiling and the simplistic interior decor was mirrored by the diverse range and flavours of seafood.

We started out with a medley of sushi which like the decorative flags, was in abundance. The platters included Salmon Roses, Nigiri, Makimono, California Rolls and much more. Of each type of sushi, the common and evident impression was of the freshness and taste was to be savoured.

With all the hustle and bustle around us,we decided to have something off the A la Carte Menu and see what all the fuss was about we opted for the Butter Prawns , the Prawn Saganaki, both went down an absolute treat.

Warmed by the spices and taste of the previous dishes, we indulged in desserts of a creamy Banoffee Pie and a rich Chocolate Volcano. Both desserts were sweet on but the cream and ice cream cut brought a welcome relief to the Banoffee Pie and Chocolate Volcano respectively. The desserts were certainly a sweet and welcome end to the night.

Like any fisherman knows, at the end of a fishing line is always a hook and there was assuredly a “hoekie “for takeaways  – whether it was for show or was operational,we remain unsure.

Regardless, the unexpected conclusion of the night was that given the chance, we would once again sail to Panama Jacks.
